Chapter 4c
I never knew that so many actions from a teacher could lead to a negative environment. I also didn't realize how much control a teacher has over the classroom and one action can make a huge difference. I do not believe that by one action you will lose all respect from the students and that teachers have to repeat bad behaviors in order for students to distrust and dislike the teacher. I would say that after one bad experience depending on how bad the teacher handled it, will just have to earn back the students good behaviors. This makes me nervous for my first year of teaching, but I just have to remember to reflect on myself and how the classroom is run. I think classroom behavior can also improve if a teacher has faith in all of the students. I want to be a teacher who not only creates the most positive classroom, but also a fun class. It is very hard to balance every students behavior, but if a teacher sticks to the rules that were put in place in the beginning of the year, the students will know the consequences. The teacher should make these rules in the beginning of the year with the students, so the students create their own consequences and are aware of the classroom policies.

Sam, great job understanding the chapter and being able to connect to it. You made some fabulous points. I was also shocked by how teachers actions can lead to those negative behaviors of students. I don't think just one incident depending on what it is, but if it is an accident and the teacher is aware of it and fixes it, it won't be a problem. If the teacher repeatedly does the same thing to the child every time then there can be an issue. I am also nervous about this in my classroom as well, but you made really good points on how you can maintain a effective classroom, by reflecting and setting those consequences and procedures into place that you will be a fabulous teacher! Keep up the great work!
